Technorati is reporting on a bizarre car club; one for owners of powerful Dodge Turbo Diesels. Whilst this vehicle in question has never really been considered a classic before it appears that people the world over do indeed love them and they have created a club to share their passion for their Dodge's. The most unusual thing? You have to have at least 100,000 miles or more on your odometer!
While visiting the 2011 Chicago Auto Show last week, I came across a very interesting "club" for car owners. The Cummins Turbo Diesel High Mileage Club. This club was designed to reward loyal, enthusiastic customers who love their Dodge Turbo Diesel vehicles.
The club is reserved for all Ram Heavy Duty pickup and chassis cab
customers who have 100,000 miles or more on their odometer. Truck
owners are asked to fill out an application and send a photo of the
exterior and the odometer of their vehicle. They will also need to send
$4.95 for shipping and handling of the grill badge that the Cummins Mile High Club will send the approve applicants.
Currently, there are over 500 members of the Cummins Mileage Club, and in 2011, Cummins introduced a new Mileage Club — The Million Mile Club. This club is for Dodge Ram
owners who have driven their trucks for one million miles or more.
There are only five registered members of this segment of the club,
however, when speaking with a representative from Cummins, she was quite
confident that more members would surface quickly.
Simply put, Dodge Ram owners are highly enthusiastic about their
vehicles and love to share that experience with other Dodge Ram owners.
They have every reason to be excited about these tremendous machines,
the vehicles are work horses and they are roomy and they are
attractive.
At a glance...
- Extended cab that comfortably seats four adults
- Four-wheel ABS
- Standard diesel exhaust brake
- Gross Combined Weight Rating are best-in-class on a Dodge Ram 3500
- A fantastic selection of comfort features, including: ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, memory systems and others
- 19.5 inch aluminum wheels (on the 4500 and 5500 models)
- And, more than 25 safety features
The power of this vehicle is what makes it sexy. Standing beside the
truck, I felt dwarfed by its mass and drawn in by its power. We opened
up the hood (like any good car enthusiast would) and took a look at the
5.7 Liter Hemi V-8. The eight cylinder, 90-degree, V-type, liquid cooled
with variable valve timing engine.
As far I was concerned, the most impressive part of the Dodge Ram
3500 (well, aside from its good looks) was its hauling capacity. I tried
to get the numbers straight but just couldn't manage. So they broke it
down for me in terms of items. This truck can pull up to four horse
trailers, it can pull a mobile home, it can pull a 50 foot boat. I think
he even said that this truck might be able to pull multiple of those
large items at once.
All I know is that we just do not see trucks like this in my corner
of the world. I am in downtown Chicago and a truck like this, in these
parts, is few and far between. You try driving this baby down a crowded
side street in Chicago. Taken from http://technorati.com/lifestyle/autos/article/cummins-mile-high-club-for-turbo/
