Alvis were a British manufacturer of
fine vehicles from 1919 until 1967, and they also produced a variety
of other products for the military including aircraft engines and
vehicles designed for army use. There are many car clubs dotted up
and down the United Kingdom dedicated to bringing owners of this
famous marque together, and many even welcome enthusiasts who have
never had the opportunity to own an Alvis of their own but are still
passionate about the vehicles themselves. As well as the many car
clubs situated around the country there is also the famous Alvis
owners club, the premier of the many car clubs for vehicles produced
by this company.
It was first founded in 1951 with the aim of
celebrating the owners vehicles, the companies heritage and motoring
in general, and it currently boasts nearly 2,000 members around the
world. Overseas members are welcome to attend the various
international Alvis weekends that take place throughout the year and
the owners club often invites other car clubs to attend as well. The
resulting spectacle is not to be missed, Alvis owners and car clubs
from around the world unite and many make friendships that go on to
last a lifetime. There is also an Alvis register that keeps a list of
all owners of these vintage vehicles who choose to register
themselves, along with lists of relevant car clubs and contacts for
people to use. Alvis vehicles represent the finest in British
engineering, inventiveness and luxury. From the TA 21 Drophead Coupé
to the Speed 25 Offord Roadster there is no denying that the many car
clubs listed in this section of our website are certainly celebrating
something unique and special. All models of Alvis from early marques
to newer more recent vehicles retain a curving gracefulness that
hearkens back to a more civilised age of motoring. The car clubs
shown here meet regularly to celebrate this, and they often also
arrange larger events and meet up with neighbouring Alvis car clubs in
order to exchange tall tales and worldly wisdom.
If you own an Alvis
and are not a member of a club then we would urge you to join one
that is convenient for your situation as soon as possible.
Socialising aside you will suddenly find a wealth of knowledge and
often a shared pool of spare parts available for you to use should
the need arise. This ensures that car clubs that champion Alvis do
their bit for living history; by exchanging knowledge and helping one
another the members ensure that these historic vehicles are kept
active and driving on the road where they belong rather than being
resigned to a dusty plinth on a museum or even to the scrap heap. If
you take part in any Alvis car clubs and want to see your meeting
publicised on our website please contact us as soon as time allows
and we will get back to you in order to discuss your club. Happy
motoring from everyone at Just Car Clubs!
