Description: Area 20 extends a very warm welcome to all Members both local and
distant, who might be visiting the beautiful counties of Devon and
Cornwall.
We hold monthly meetings throughout the year, usually on the third
Sunday in the month, which we try to move around the Area to give as
many people as possible the chance to join in the fun. The calendar for
2011 is already looking pretty full and the diary page shows the
forthcoming events. Please also take time to look at the ‘Reports and
Photos' page which gives a great feel for the types of events we hold.
Most meetings involve a lunch combined with another event. They are well
attended (we usually have 25/30 members in attendance and whilst
conversation gravitates towards our cars it is never the sole subject.
Last year we undertook the 'Last of the Summer Wine Tour' down to watch
the historic motor racing at the Circuit des Remparts, Angouleme and
this year we are planning a similar event but with Spain as the
destination. The Tour was really enjoyed by those who joined in and I am
sure that this years event will be just as good. More information will
be provided once the planning phase has been completed.
A bit about our Area Reps and Webmaster:
Richard & Hellen retired and moved from Ruislip Middlesex to
Polperro Cornwall in 2005.Their daughter lives near Helston with her
husband and baby Beatrice with another on the way,he is an officer in
the Navy based at Helston and she is a Physiotherapist on the base.
Richard has been car enthusiast all his life, he has owned his DB6 Mk2
for the last ten years and also races a pre-war MG at circuits and hill
climbs around the country. Was made assistant Rep in 2008 and then became
joint Representative in 2009.
Ian lives in the Exe Valley with his wife Maureen and their two
Labradors (Gabby and Rosie). He is retired and has always been an avid
car fan achieving his life long ambition of owning an Aston some 3 years
ago. He currently drives a DB9 Volante and the Aston stable has now
grown to 8 cars, unfortunately 7 of them are scalextric models!
Tim has been a "petrolhead" all of his life - probably inherited from
his grandfather who had a number of garage and coach businesses. Tim has
had a number of classic cars over the last 40 years and like Richard
still owns MGs which keep the Aston company. Recently retired, Tim is
hoping to spend even more time keeping his concours winning DB7 Vantage
Volante up to scratch, assuming of course that his wife, Georgie,
doesn't have other ideas.
