Description: Area 15 holds monthly meetings at pubs around the region on the first
Thursday of each month. Regular haunts have family rooms, good food
and spacious car parks. We are occasionally joined by guest speakers,
such as Bob Spikesley, former Aston Martin body-shop foreman, and Nick
Sykes, automotive artist. To round off the year we celebrate with a
Christmas lunch. Pub meetings are well attended by family and junior
members who often enjoy good food and conversation while the men-folk
are kicking tyres in the car park.
Area 15 is active in many
competitive and social fields. Racing members led the way in securing
the Pennine Trophy, awarded to the area gaining the most competitive
points per 100 members, for the last four years. In 2003, Area Rep
Martin Wright, Tony Riseley and Gordon Riseley finished the season with a
collection of trophies and prizes between them.
Spectating at
competitive events can be equally enjoyable, and any members who have an
interest in attending or taking part should contact Martin, or the Competition organiser.
Some prefer the more leisurely pursuit of showing
their cars and in 2003 several Area members came away with Concours
prizes. The Spring Concours 2004 will be in the splendid setting of
Woburn Abbey. Over 200 Astons were displayed at the corresponding event
in 2003, giving an unparalleled opportunity to discuss membership and
the pros and cons of different models with enthusiastic owners. Anyone
who would like more information is welcome to contact the Assistant
Representative, Richard Brown.
Bedfordshire
and Northamptonshire are areas of natural beauty containing many
visitor attractions that are ideal for a day out in an Aston Martin.
