The British Motor Corporation or BMC as
it is better known produced vehicles from 1952 through to 1966, and
here you will find a comprehensive selection of many BMC car clubs
throughout the United Kingdom. As a predecessor of British Leyland
there is no denying that BMC have a special place in the hearts and
minds of many motorists, and it is only fitting that there are a
large number of car clubs dedicated to vehicles from this rather
short lived manufacturer. One of the things that makes BMC owners
clubs so interesting is that most welcome vehicles that were
“inherited” from other manufacturers including Austin, Morris,
Wolseley, Riley, and MG. The company was tremendously large and the
number of members in the various car clubs listed on our website with
testify to that. In a rather obtuse way BMC are still trading as a
brand, albeit under Turkish ownership.
This is because vehicles were
produced under license in Turkey from the 1950's onwards, and these
were then exported to the United Kingdom starting in 2002, meaning
that at the time of writing one can purchase a new car bearing the
BMC badge and become a member of one of many car clubs dedicated to
the brand. BMC owners and members of related car clubs often cite the
charming, affordable nature of their vehicles as the reason they are
so passionate about them. For instance the Mini, one of the best
selling vehicles for the company (and a popular vehicle at car clubs)
was (according to Ford) sold at a £30 loss on each vehicle! Although
BMC made a name for themselves in the short time they existed they
continued to struggle financially and this is why the majority of
their vehicles are relegated to being driven by passionate
enthusiasts at car clubs and other related events. Here at Just Car
Clubs we feel that companies like BMC represent important historical
links to our past that should be celebrated and remembered, and car
clubs play a vital role in this preservation of history.
By meeting
and exchanging stories and ideas enthusiasts ensure that these
vehicles will be kept in excellent condition so they can be driven as
they were meant to be and people can enjoy their sight and sound.
This is especially important with vehicles from companies like BMC
who produce vehicles for everyday individuals and not high
performance sports vehicles. Whatever your passion and whichever
aspect of BMC appeals to you the most we are confident that you will
find our list of car clubs informative and helpful. If you are a
member of any BMC car clubs we welcome your feedback, and if you
would like to see your club listed on our site get in touch
immediately and we will arrange this for you as soon as possible. BMC
have produced some iconic vehicles throughout the years that are
celebrated by many car clubs, so why not pay them a visit today and
share your passion?
