...from Essex. Thought we’d like to tell you a little about our club in Essex.
We have quite a strong membership here, maybe because we’re close to
Caterham or maybe it’s just people in Essex have such good taste in cars
and not one's sprayed in a Burberry check. As from the month of March,
we're moving to a new venue. We'll now be meeting at The Grange, (CM3
3HJ) adjacent to the A12 Boreham interchange and the Premier Inn,
Boreham near Chelmsford. Please take a look at their website http://www.mypubheaven.com/grangechelmsford/
The Essex membership has a great cross section of members, all age
groups, lifestyles and cars. We have members about to build their own
brand new car, old classics (cars I mean) and even some bike engined
7's. There are a fair few long distance drivers amongst us, from Pete
and Des doing most the of the States, Phil and Chris touring France
(Phil who had bought a new car before the pins came out of his
legs!!!!), Duncan and Kathryn, who left the church to do a European tour
for their honeymoon, the regulars to Le Mans and a very large
contingent blasting over to the Swiss St Moritz meeting and Hugh who
seems to be in a different country almost on a weekly basis and Graeme
was spotted on the Monaco F1 circuit.
All members chip in and help out organising all manner of different
things, we're a very generous crowd, whether it be hospitality (special
thanks to Chris and Carla) through to helping and advising newer
members. It's not just a 'men and their cars club', wives, girlfriends,
partners all come along as well.
We have lots of social events and early morning breakfast blasts at weekend's (which I have never made, as I don’t do mornings).
We are lucky to be very close to other area meetings, so we sometimes
visit the nearby ones such as Kent, Norfolk/Suffolk, Cambs. and also the
odd trip to the Ace café, although the drive’s not so exciting round
the North Circular. We’ll surely have lots of various local and far away events going on
this summer, including the Swiss International St Moritz in July, if you
want the drive of your life. So, whether you have a Seven already or you just love 'em, come and join
us at The Grange on the last Tuesday of the month for a blat or just to
kick a few tyres, you’ll always receive a warm welcome.
