Not quite as MAD as the name may suggest ……
The Joint Area Representatives for Merseyside & District Sevens
are Martin Richards and Stuart Forshaw, and the meeting is attended
throughout the year by plenty of regulars from far and wide – including a
number who visit from other areas.
If variety is what you’re looking for, then we have it! Pretty well
all ages of cars and engine types have been in attendance at our monthly
pub venue meeting, from Xflows, Vauxhalls & K-Series through to the
now increasingly popular bike engine cars and Duratec & Sigma
configurations.
So where do we collect? We meet on the last Wednesday of the month at
the Ring O'Bells Pub in Daresbury Village to the south west of
Warrington, usually starting at around 7.30pm. The meet is an informal
affair with often around 20 cars in the summer months, dropping off to a
few die-hard Seveners over the winter, but also with owners still
attending in their cosseted tin-tops! Incidentally Daresbury was the
birthplace of Alice In Wonderland author, Lewis Carroll.
So what do we get up to? At monthly meetings we’ll enjoy a pint and
the good company of other Seveners either outside with the cars, or
inside the pub where the friendly staff are only too willing to
accommodate with their excellent choice of food and drink. If you arrive
and there’s no-one around the car park, we’ll be at the large round
table we have reserved at the rear of the pub. You can’t miss us – we’re
the ones in silly footwear sporting steering wheels as fashion
accessories!
Usually a couple of times a year we organise planned runs out with
destinations such as Portmeirion and Lake Vyrnwy being popular Sunday
runs. Our location means that we have easy access to some of the finest
driving roads in the country, and additionally Oulton Park Circuit is
less than 30 minutes away.
All too often it seems daunting for new members attending an area
meeting, but hopefully at MADS nothing could be further from the truth.
We have a warm and friendly attendance, from all walks of life, all
bonded together by the faulty gene that makes us Seveners! Anyone
looking to bring a Seven, buy a Seven, or just be enthusiastic about
