Description:

Just as a quick introduction from us, we’re Steve and Ann Brown, the area representatives for this “neck of the woods”, and you can get in touch with us on 01937 530950.

The East & North Yorkshire area meet every third Wednesday of the month at the Gold Cup Inn in Low Catton (about 10 miles south of York, near Stamford Bridge, postcode YO41 1EA). You’ll find us in the restaurant area from 7.15pm onwards, as most (but not all) take advantage of the bar snack menu. The local membership is a good mix of couples and singles. Both genders seem to find plenty of topics to natter about which aren’t solely car related (although summer months tend to find a good number of attendees migrating to the car park at the rear of the pub to see what’s new!). As one of our members put it, “the meetings have a nice balance and are more of a general social evening than just focused on cars (we don’t talk carbs and dedions all night). This is proven by the fact that so many wives / girlfriends attend!”

Other than the routine monthly meeting, we have also organised a number of other trips and events during the year. These have included runs out, either locally, or further afield with an overnight stop :- we went from Coast to Coast in 2004, up to the Scottish Borders in 2005, and to the Isle of Man in 2006. In 2007 we had a run out to the north west, along with attendance at the various jubilee events. In 2008 we even had a trip around the Ginetta factory! We’ve also been karting in the winter months, and clay pigeon shooting in the summer (both in conjunction with the local Lotus owners’ club). A few area members are also frequent attendees at Lotus Seven Club (and other organisers’) trackdays, so if you’re tempted to do a trackday, but want to speak to someone about what’s involved, come along and have a chat.

Please feel free to drop in at any future meeting if you would like to.  You can find our own website here: http://www.york7.org.uk/
