Morgan Car Clubs
Morgan have been producing their motor cars since it company was founded in 1910 by Harry Frederick Stanley Morgan (known as "HFS"). The company remained with HSM until his death in 1955, leaving the company to Peter Morgan, son of H.F.S., until a few years before his death in 2003. Currently, Morgan Motor Cars is run by Charles Morgan, the son of Peter Morgan. This long line of tradition and family has stood well with fans, creating many life-long enthusiasts how have stayed with Morgan throughout their car owning life. The history of Morgan is celebrated by both the clubs and the car clubs associated with the brand. At the factory in Malvern, Worcestershire you will find a visitors centre dedicated to the history to this great British car manufacturer. Although they began car production with three wheeled vehicles, Morgan quickly became designers of elegant four wheeled machines. The first 4-wheeled Morgan, the 4-4, was first sold in 1936 and named the Morgan 4–4 Series 1. Morgan continued three-wheeler car production alongside the 4–4 until 1952. The Morgan +4 was introduced in 1950 with a range of new additions, such as a larger engine. The +4 was also re-released in 1985 and 2004 with more modern engines. Another version was the +4+, from 1964 to 1967. This model featured a contemporary fibreglass coupe body to be light weight and reduced drag. This model was limited to only 26 cars. Later cars included the +8, which originally featured the Rover V8 engine from 1968. Over the years several different engines have been used, including using Land Rover engines. The final model was released as a 4.0l between 1998and 2004 with an optional 4.6Lversion between 1996 and 2000. Each of these models have attracted numerous new fans to car clubs around the country.
Morgan introduced themselves to a new line of fans in 2000 with the introduction of the Morgan Aero 8. It boasted speed thanks to a BMW V8 engine and lightweight construction. Production of the Morgan Aero 8 continued until 2009 and was followed by the limited addition Aeromax until 2010.
With such performance and styling it is easy to see why Morgan have a firm fan base within a range of clubs. These fans run numerous car clubs up and down the country.
