Unusual Task for Santa Monica Car Club

Posted on Monday, 14 November 2011 04:12PM by Editor
The Santa Monica Pier recently played host to the Dukes Car Club who held their annual classic show, however this year they undertook a gigantic toy drive on the beach in order to collect toys to be distributed to underprivileged children.

Local artists joined the celebration with the car club and displayed pieces of their work along the pier, whilst local musicians entertained crowds with Spanish music. Dukes Car Club are one of the oldest local car clubs, having been present in the area since the 50's, and they invited other local car clubs to take part in the event.

The centrepiece of the event was a stunning Chevy Bel Air that has been lovingly restored over many years, along with the usual crowd of lowriders. Everything from hearses to track cars were on display for people to enjoy, and an entire Ford pickup truck full of toys was collected over the course of the day.

These toys will be distributed to Children in Need and local schools.
